Grants: Spring 2007

March 12, 2017

Jennifer Adams, BH-BL High School Science Department

An introductory disarticulated skeleton and six “Sherlock Bones” kits (partial skeletons for forensics analysis labs).  Forensics is a new elective science course being offered in the fall.  The labs help students develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving.

Grant: $1,992

Juliann DellaRocco, BH-BL High School Transition Committee

Take thirty students to the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown for a two-day peer leadership training to develop a “buddy” mentor program for identified at-risk or “disconnected” students.  This addresses two BH-BL High School goals: to increase Regents and Merit diploma rates and to create connections for disengaged students.

Grant: $2,275

Alison Dinofrio, After School Program

To purchase a Lego Renewable Energy Getting Started Package for Renewable Energy Lab to be used in the after school enrichment club which is open to all 4th & 5th graders in all three elementary schools.  The material would also be available to teachers and students to supplement the current Science curriculum.  Students will discover how energy is developed from the sun, wind and water.

Grant: $2,106

Beth Larson, BH-BL High School History Department

To purchase an Optoma DV10 Movie Time Digital DVD Projector for an after school activity that will make use of feature length Hollywood films dealing with historical topics that are studied in class.  The “Movies R Us” program will offer one movie per quarter and involve three activity period presentations.

Grant: $500
